How to improve your eBay sales: The 8 tips you cannot do without

Posted by ebayprofitmaster on June 20, 2010

Once you have the buyers looking at your listing, they have proved the fact that they are interested. The next step is to make sure they actually place a bid or click on the buy it now button. We will now take a look at some things you can do to encourage this.

1. Insert the best quality picture you can take of your item. A poor quality picture that has bad lighting, or too much clutter, will reduce your chances of making the sale. Use a stock photo if you cannot access a camera yourself.

2. Create your “About Me page”. This one step alone will really help to show you how to improve your eBay sales, as it relaxes your potential customers, and gives them further information about your business.
Once they see it they know that you are a real and genuine person and that your business is real and genuine and can be trusted.
You should also link to your email signup page and special offers for your eBay visitors’.

3. Signup to SquareTrade. When you Sign up to SquareTrade you can then display their logo on all your listings. It’s just another little tip that can relax your potential customers, as all the PowerSellers use it on their listings – and they know a thing or two about how to improve their eBay sales – it makes the listings look far more professional.

4. Write up terms and conditions of sale. Having “small print” written on all of your listings that gives the details of things such as shipping times and your postage prices, your refund policy, and other related things will really help build confidence in buyers.

5. Make a show of your feedback comments. Insert a screen grab ((fn+insert prt sc) or shift+print screen) of your best feedback comments into every product listing. If you have 100% positive feedback, then make sure that you enter this in every listing as well.

6. Add NR at the end of your titles. If you have spare space within your title, then enter “NR” (no reserve) at the end. Bidders really prefer those listings which do not have a reserve price, this way they will know that your listing doesn’t have one either.

7. Emphasize the Benefits rather than features. Ensure that your description puts more focus on the benefit to your customer, rather than the features of the item. This is a very old sales technique, and is one of the most popular ways that you can learn to improve your eBay sales. This is an example of what I mean: “inexpensive” is a feature, “saving cash” is a benefit.

8. Upgrade your listing. If you are selling items in a very popular category, then you will need to spend a little extra money on listing your item in order to make it more visible to browsing customers. The additional fee for listing upgrades is one of the very best ways that you will ever discover how to improve your eBay sales.
