How to sell on eBay:The checklist for success

Posted by ebayprofitmaster on March 2, 2010

It is difficult sometimes to be aware of everything you need to know whilst selling one eBay.

So let’s provide a simple checklist you can follow regarding everything you need to be doing.

Do you know everything you need to know regarding the things you are selling?

Search for those items in Google to learn more about them, you might just find out something you did not previously know.

If another seller is also selling the same item, then always provide more information and make your listing look better and more eye catching.

Are you monitoring your competition?

Always be aware as to how much similar items to yours are selling for.

There is not much point in selling a fixed price item for $90 if another person has a listing which starts at $80.

Do you have your photographs of your items?

Always add photographs of your items, if you can, even if you have to use stock images for your listings, simply because listings with photographs sell better (make sure you have permission to use photographs you did not take yourself).

Do you email your sellers?

It is a good idea to send a quick email after a transaction which states “Thanks for buying from me”.

After that send another stating “Thank you paying, I have posted your item now”.

Most problems will be avoided by simply sending regular emails to your customers.

Also, do you check your emails?

Making sure to answer your emails can be good encouragement to getting buyers to return to you and buy again some time.

Are your listings describing everything that a buyer might need to know before purchase?

If you are offering worldwide delivery make sure the charges are available on your listing.

Make sure you add any return policy and other conditions to your listing, as you need everything spelled out clearly to your potential buyers.

Always package your items carefully, as this will help to give a good impression, and ideally print your address labels instead of writing them by hand.

Do you actually ever follow up with your customers?

It is a good idea to send an email a few days later stating “Are you happy with your purchase? I hope everything was to your satisfaction.”

Showing your concern for their happiness with their purchase can only help your future sales!

If you can provide good customer service this will increase your chances of becoming a good seller.

If you wonder whether it is worth the trouble to get a good reputation on eBay, you will be interested to read my next post that goes into detail regarding exactly that.

I am always looking for tipps and tricks how to sell stuff on ebay. I am looking especially for great software tools, which can support me on ebay. Any ideas?

    • If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for tools that they would like recommended on this blog please let me know and I will post them here for all – dont keep them a secret for yourself. Ideally the tools should be free or at least low cost in order to maximize profits. I will again take this opportunity to recommend the free ebook available below as an excellent source of helpful advice (which also lists many powertools for ebay):
